THE STUDY CENTRE
The Sea Mere Study Centre provides courses on horticulture, natural history and countryside skills, using the Sea Mere Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and Gardens as an outdoor classroom and the newly converted Study Centre for indoor work. The Royal Horticultural Society Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture is now offered by the Sea Mere Study Centre. Click here for more information. Courses at Sea Mere are informal and practical, and are limited to 12 students.
Sea Mere Gardens cover approximately four acres and include shrub and herbaceous borders, an orchard, potager, formal and natural areas of grass, a bog garden, courtyard gardens and wildlife pond. The house and gardens overlook the 20 acre circular mere which, together with 35 acres of deciduous woodland and 35 acres of marsh, comprise the Sea Mere SSSI. The gardens and SSSI are not open to the public.
Neither the SSSI nor the Sea Mere Gardens are open to the public but are available for students attending courses at the Sea Mere Study Centre.
The Sea Mere Study Centre can also be booked by groups who wish to visit the Sea Mere SSSI and undertake their own study. Please email for details or go to our meeting room page for more information.
